GUADELOUPE, French West Indies

28 May – 4 June 2008

We plan to do a Dive/Sail AdvenTour to Guadeloupe 28 May until 4 June.

Guadeloupe is composed of several islands in the French West Indies which is a couple hour American Eagle flight away from San Juan (south of Antigua, Barbuda, St Kitts, and Nevis...north of Dominica and St. Lucia).  The villages, ports, harbors, and anchorages are loaded with shops, restaurants, and quaint beach bars.

There is a "chance" we may opt to sail to Dominica (about 35 miles away) for a evening, but I cannot promise that.  For those that are interested, I am considering adding two or three days diving to either the front or back of this trip IN DOMINICA (world class dive sites and spectacular mountain island).  Let me know if this interests YOU.

To get to Guadeloupe you can either come on Air France from Paris OR American Eagle from San Juan.  Most will need to over night in San Juan because there don’t seem to be any good connections.

The Travel dates for this AdvenTour will be to arrive Guadeloupe (PTP) on May 28 or EARLIER (AE arrives PTP from SJU @ 1725) and plan to depart on June 4th or later (AE departs PTP at 3:55 PM so it is doable if the boats are in by noon).

The RATES will be ABOUT $800/person based on double occupancy cabins.  This will NOT include diving, transportation, or provisions.

The diving will cost ABOUT an additional $150/diver (if we dive from OUR boats).

The Airport to Base transfers will be about $10/person/direction.

Each crew will provision as needed.  I anticipate eating MOST dinners ashore and most breakfasts and lunches aboard.  After we have set the crews and the Captains have agreed on a sail plan we will give more guidance on Meal and Provision costs.  MY GUESS.....$100/week/person for boat provisions and $25/day for on shore meals.

We currently have only a hand full of openings, so if this trip intersts you contact us ASAP.

TAHITI AdvenTour

May/June2007

This is some "general" information about Tahiti that YOU will need when trying to decide if you want to join us on our Tahiti AdvenTour in MAY-JUNE 2007.

This AdvenTour will offer each of you a variety of travel and destination options.  When we finalize the "deals" I will tell each of you MY PLANS and MY SUGGESTIONS.  You will then have several options as to how to customize YOUR AdvenTour.

GENERAL GEOGRAPHY
Tahiti is HUGE and made up of several major archipelagos (Society, Tuamotu, Gambier, and Marquises).  Gambier and Marquises are AdvenTours of their own and their distance from the Island of Tahiti make it impractical to include in this AdvenTour.

AdvenTours DESTINATIONS
We will focus on the Society Islands of Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, and Bora.  We will offer the option of AdvenTouring to Rangiroa in the Tuamotu Archipelago for those that want to see/do more.

This AdvenTour will encompass a variety of activities to include Sailing, Diving, and Touring.  The entire trip will most likely be about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks.  YOU are invited to join us for the entire AdvenTour or any portion.

One "possible" itinerary (use this as an example only) would be to spend the first 4 to 5 days enjoying a land based touring/diving in Tahiti and Moorea.  Followed by a couple days of land based touring/diving in Raiatea and then boarding Sail boats for 5 to 7 day of sailing/diving to Bora Bora and returning to Raiatea.  The last section of this itinerary would be and additional 4 or 5 days of land bases touring/diving in Rangiroa.  From Rangiroa we would return to Tahiti for our flight back to the United States.

Using the above itinerary each of you will have the option of which portions of the AdvenTour you would like to attend.  If you opt not to sail with us, you could remain on Raitea (or schedule your arrival to coincide with the boat departure) and then meet us in Bora Bora.

The bottom line is that we plan to offer you several options.

GETTING TO/FROM TAHITI
Air Tahiti Nui serves LAX and JFK to PPT (Papatee Airport).  For the Airline Employees there are several special rates from LAX and JFK from $350 to $500, but you will travel STANDBY.  For those that need/want positive space travel the rates are approximately $1000 (there are fares offered on specific dates for as little as $650, but they may or may not be available when we go).

There are OTHER airline options that will be addressed at a later date.

INTER ISLAND TRAVEL
We will fly into Papatee on the island of Tahiti.

Ferry service between Tahiti and Moorea is easy, quick (30 Minutes), and inexpensive.

Inter Island flights on Air Tahiti (not Air Tahiti Nui, which is a different company) are available by the leg or by purchasing an Air Pass.  Air Passes cost between $250 and $500 depending on which islands you opt to visit.  I have pasted Air Pass information to the end of this e-mail.

LODGING OPTIONS
Tahiti has some of the most beautiful hotel/spa/resorts in the world.  Most of the larger ones are very expensive.  We have had several requests to spend at least a portion of our time in one of these spas.  I am working on RATES at this time, but these FIVE STAR facilities will cost between $200 and $600/night (double occupancy).

There are also a fair amount of smaller resorts/bungalows that we should be able to acquire for between $75 and $150/night (double occupancy).

DIVING
The diving is "World Class".  For the true divers in the group, I will plan to dive 3 or 4 days in each destination allowing 1 or 2 days of non-diving for additional touring.  We will most likely dive one dive per day while on the sail boats.

Diving is expensive in the Pacific.  We will most likely pay about $75/dive ($150/two tank dive).

SAILING
Our intent is to get two or three catamarans for 7 nights.  Catamarans are in VERY limited supply so we may have to adjust our sailing plans based of availability.  The sailing is reported to be wonderful and will offer the divers and non-divers the opportunity to explore the coves, reefs on our own.

Although we may eat some of our meals aboard the boats, we plan to eat the vast majority on shore.

COST
The total cost will obviously vary based on which resorts we actually settle with.  I am currently in discussions with several facilities at each destination.  You can use these numbers as a "guideline".  I think some of these numbers are HIGH, but I would rather you plan HIGH and be pleasantly surprised if we come in at a cheaper rate.  The big variables will obviously be the number of days diving WE choose, positive or standby travel status, and whether or not you choose the Resort Spa option for three of the nights.

Air Fares (Air Tahiti Nui AND Inter island travel) - Between $800 and $1500/person
Sailing - About $600/person
Diving - Eight Days of two tank diving @ $150/Day - ABOUT $1200
Diving - Six Days of single tank diving while on Sailboat - ABOUT $300
Lodging - Eight nights @ $80/person/night - ABOUT $650
Lodging - Three nights at a SPA Resort @ $200/person/night - ABOUT $600

TIME FRAME
This entire trip will take about 2 1/2 weeks or more.  I will try to make Sail Boat reservations as soon as I have a feel for how many people are joining us on the boat.

This trip will basically be the last week of MAY and the first week of JUNE.  Until we know who is going and what date restrictions we have with the sailboats and resort openings, we cannot set the EXACT date.

Because most of the trip is land based there will be flexibility for those that need it.

COMMITMENT
The rates will vary somewhat based on how many people we will have joining us.  If you are interested, it is VERY important that you give me some type of commitment or "feed back":

"100% I am in"
or
"I want to go but it will be dependent on ??? "
or
"I am interested, but not willing to commit yet"

AND

"I want to be included on a Sail Boat to DIVE"
or
"I want to sail, but will not dive"
or
"I do not want to go on the sailboat"

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
YOU need to do some of your own research so that YOU will be able to make some decisions.  I suggest looking at http://www.tahiti-tourisme.com/ which has LOTS of information.

BVI INTERLINE REGATTA 2008

October 5 thru 17, 2008

Each October AdvenTours charters several Air-conditioned Catamarans in the British Virgin Islands to follow the International Airline Championship Sailing Regatta.  This Moorings Regatta features crews from around the world competing in several classes of sailboats.  The evening parties that follow each days races are world class.

The AdvenTours Armada doesn't race, but instead sails and dives during the day and joins the Regatta in the evenings for the parties.

Most people that have accompanied us in years past will tell you that it is one of the best vacations they have ever been on.  I will affirm it is a fantastic time and a good mix of sailing, diving, and partying.  This trip is best enjoyed by couples or singles, divers or non-divers, and sailors on non-sailors.  Bottom line, there is something for everyone.

We will have FOUR 47' Catamarans reserved with The Moorings for 2008.  Each boat has four cabins and four heads (each cabin has its own private head).

These yachts are chartered BAREBOAT, which means WE are the crew, cooks, and cleaners.  We work very hard to make sure everyone participates in all phases of the AdvenTour.  You WILL learn to sail if you don't know how already.

I invite you to visit the Photo Albums on the Flower Mound Social Club Website and view SOME of the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006,and 2007 pictures.  The pictures tell the story.

Realizing that everyone cannot afford the time or money to enjoy the full 10 days onboard the yachts, we have historically allowed people to join us for 5 or 10 day periods.  The 10 dayers will always have preference, but once again I anticipate we will have a fair share of 5 dayers.

The Crew Change day (if we do one) would be the Saturday the 11th of October.  The second half crews would disembark at noon on Thursday the 16th and fly home on Friday the 18th.

2008 Costume Parties

This year the Moorings has not listed ANY theme parties YET.  When they do, we will pass it along to YOU.  If they do NOT list any themes, we will pick at least one night per half and do a "CREW PRIDE NIGHT".  MORE LATER.

COST

The cost of this AdvenTour is slightly variable depending on the total cost of the trip.  We have done this many years now and I think you will find my "estimates" VERY close.  After the trips conclusion I will either ask you for a little more money or refund you any over payments.  (Disclaimer - sometimes the AdvenTours accounting department is SLOW...but we will never cheat you)

The cost of the Yachts, Diving, Food, Drinks, Parties, mooring fees, fuel, and just about everything you could want will be ABOUT $160/day/person.  For the 10 Dayers and those on the FIRST 5 Days there will be an additional $100 to cover the cost of the "Sleep Aboard" on Sunday the 5th.  That means a First Half 5 Dayer will pay only $900, a Second Half 5 Dayer will pay only $800, and 10 Dayers will pay only $1700.

If you want a SINGLE ROOM the cost to purchase the "other half" of your room will be:

$500 for FIVE NIGHTS

$1000 for TEN NIGHTS

If you would like me to hold YOU a spot for BVI 2008, PLEASE let me know ASAP.  To hold a spot send $500 ASAP.  We will collect an additional $500 ($300 for five dayers) in April and the balance will be due in June.

If money is an issue, call me and we can work out a special payment plan.

Once you have "committed" you will be financially responsible for your portion of the trip.

Please review the "BVI Cancellation Policy" for an explanation of cancellation fees that may apply.
